Barbie will be visiting the Bowl.The Barbie Land Sinfonietta will perform live to film music in "Barbie The Movie: In Concert," a special presentation from executive producer and orchestrator Macy Schmidt's all-women, majority-women-of-color orchestra. The Hollywood Bowl is scheduled for July 27.
Recently, Tony Award-winning producer Schmidt made history on Broadway as the first woman of color to orchestrate a show.
The event, which has been called a "one-of-a-kind immersive experience," will also feature picture opportunities, limited-edition specialized items, and more. Barbie will be shown above the Barbie Land Sinfonietta on a massive LED screen during the performance, which will feature the film's critically acclaimed soundtrack. On May 7, single tickets will go on sale.
The Grammy-winning song "What Was I Made For," as well as popular songs and viral videos by Dua Lipa, Lizzo, and, of course, Ryan Gosling's "Just Ken," will be played for attendees.
"Last summer, people of all ages flocked to theaters to celebrate the joy of the Barbie movie together," stated Mattel Chief Franchise Officer Josh Silverman. "Now, with an incredible live musical experience led by an incredibly talented all-women orchestra, fans can further celebrate Barbie."
"We're proud to present Barbie The Movie: In ConcertTM in association with the renowned Hollywood Bowl and Mattel," Schmidt continued. Nothing compares to the intensity of the Bowl, therefore it seems fitting to bring the elite female musicians of the Barbie Land Sinfonietta to this legendary location.
Eight Academy Award nominations were among the more than 460 industry nominations and 120 awards that Greta Gerwig's smash hit movie garnered. With three victories in major categories including song of the year, best song composed for visual media (Billie Eilish O'Connell and Finneas O'Connell, "What Was I Made For?"), and best compilation soundtrack for visual media, Barbie's music was nominated for eleven Grammy Awards.
